How do you react to life?

How do you react to life?

We are all rushing through life so we do not notice how we react to life.  Most of us, if not all of us have no idea who we are and how we react to life. We always blame conditions or people around us on how we react to life. We blame our parents for creating all our problems and when we grow up we find other people to blame for all our misfortunes. We refuse to take responsibility of our own experiences.

When you stop and take time to look within ourselves and to really examine who you are and what you all about.  Well all spirit, energy experiencing a physical existence. We are very sensitive beings, sensitive to energy. This makes us sensitive to every living and on living thing. Actually we have a limited perception about what is living and dead. Everything is living and vibrating as everything is energy.

How do you react to the world if you don’t know who you are? You react with fear, confusion and anger. You look around not understanding and blaming others for your misfortunes. You don’t know how to play the game of life so you fail in life.  We have religion which is used to give us identification and a sense of direction. However some of us do not have the direction of religion to teach us about who we are. The human spiritual growth is not limited to religion because we are spirit and spirit is beyond the physical world.

There is the continuous curiosity within each one of us, asking who am I and what is my purpose? Why was I born into this life time? So many questions yet most of us do not explorer these questions.  By knowing what or who you are and what is your purpose you will react to life in a positive way. By positive I mean a way that is not uncomfortable and is fruitful to you and others around you. Reacting with love no matter whatever addresses you. In other words the circumstances or conditions that you experience should not affect who you are. They give it fancy titles like EQ Emotional Intelligence. This EQ is spiritual as you grow your EQ even though you cannot see  it , it is part of you. It grows resulting from the fact that you understand that you more than your body and mind.

A major component of EQ are:

1. Self-awareness. The ability to recognize an emotion as it “happens” is the key to your EQ. Developing self-awareness requires tuning in to your true feelings. If you evaluate your emotions, you can manage them. The major elements of self-awareness are:

  • Emotional awareness. Your ability to recognize your own emotions and their effects.
  • Self-confidence. Sureness about your self-worth and capabilities.

2. Self-regulation. You often have little control over when you experience emotions. You can, however, have some say in how long an emotion will last by using a number of techniques to alleviate negative emotions such as anger, anxiety or depression. A few of these techniques include recasting a situation in a more positive light, taking a long walk and meditation or prayer. Self-regulation involves

  • Self-control. Managing disruptive impulses.
  • Trustworthiness. Maintaining standards of honesty and integrity.
  • Conscientiousness. Taking responsibility for your own performance.
  • Adaptability. Handling change with flexibility.
  • Innovation. Being open to new ideas.

How you react to life is how you react to people, circumstances, situations and all beings including all life. This is inclusive to all animals and plant life.  It is a reflection of who you are and what you beliefs are. It is your emotions, thoughts and actions. We have the opportunity to develop ourselves and develop our EQ to become in control of our emotions and thoughts. Therefore resulting to enjoying our lives.  As life is meant for enjoyment. This objective of enjoyment has been turned upside down. Now life is about ego about material success. You will definitely not achieve any success if you don’t know how to react to life. Your emotions and thoughts will rule you. This material success is temporal as you continue wanting more cars, more houses more career success, more ego satisfying success.

Your breath is your portal to life

Your breath is your portal to life

As you breathe in and out unconsciously you don’t realize the importance of your breath. That this miraculous mechanical system that keeps us rooted to life has a spiritual value as well. Breathing does not only keep your lungs working, your heart and brain functioning. It also keeps you connected to consciousness, roots you to this physical dimension keeping you close to the heavenly reality. That is why calm deep breathing calms, clears and focuses your mind. It has healing properties.

Most of the time we live our lives going on with our daily activities  without pausing and putting any thought to what allows us to live and experience life in this physical world. The body is a marvelous system so magnificent and so amazing, fragile yet very strong. The gift of breath is just as amazing and magnificent as the body.

As I learn to be mindful of my breath, the more fascinated and in awe I become. I love the feeling of calmness and contentment that results from a session of mindful breathing meditation. Life becomes much brighter.  My mind can function more clearly, the stress of the day falls away as I realize that my stress is self-created as all suffering is self-inflicted. The suffering is caused by labeling every situation, person or event. Everything has to be right or wrong, bad or good.  So we create our own stress and suffering. We are constantly judging and separating.

We forget the miracles of life offered freely to us each day, every minute of each day. We are too busy competing with others and ourselves. Not enjoying each moment of each day. Looking forward to tomorrow and a perception that happiness, calmness is only possible if certain conditions or criteria are met. That we can only be happy if we earning a 6 figure salary, driving a special type of car or being married to a perfect man or women.

Mindful breathing leads to mindful living. Everything in your life will be appreciated much more with a feeling of awe and magnificence. You will develop a spirit of gratitude.  This philosophy is found in the eastern spiritual practices were life is slowed down and really felt and appreciated.    We can live our lives experiencing world peace as soon as we learn to experience inner peace and understanding. Next time take note of your breath and take note of the sweet air that passes through your nostrils. Feel the magnificent experience as the air is pulled into your body clearing your mind. As you breathe out, deeply experience that heavenly calmness and stillness. Experience how wonderful life really is.

The power of our words and thoughts

The power of our words and thoughts

Words have power. They have the power to create and to kill. The power we do not take notice of. We take our words very lightly. I remember being a teenager and constantly being picked on and told that I was fat and not pretty enough. Those words stuck with me and moulded how I felt about myself and others. This results in a poor self-imagine and low self-esteem. These situations lead me to attract very negative situations during my later years.

Listening now to self-help videos and teachings, the message is always the same, your words have power, and your thoughts create your reality. Imagine hearing negative things about yourself, they will end with you believing those unpleasant and true opinions or the beliefs others have about you. When actually people normally express how we see ourselves to others.

A simple scenario: You got up in the morning in a good mood, I mean a fantastic mood. Everything is going well for you that day. You may even get a salary increase or win the lottery. You just smile broadly. You get home that day and your daughter breaks an expensive valuable container or dish. You just look at her and smile and you say that it is okay. It would have been a different situation if you were having a very bad day and you were in a negative spirit.

Everybody is beautiful beyond their physical presence. Everybody is intelligent and creative because we are all part of the beautiful intelligent consciousness. This consciousness we call ‘God, source of all life.

We project how we feel about ourselves to others and that is sad if you have nothing positive to say about yourself. A person, who has only negative things to say to others and about others, has no positive things to say about him or herself. I experienced this personally within myself. You will actually feel emotionally and spiritual off. Due to the fact that as humans we are not only physical beings but also spiritual beings. We are all part of the divine consciousness. Being hurtful and uncaring to others is destructive to us and others.

Words and thoughts have the power to create worlds. This has been proven time and time again. There is an adage that says, when during the creation of the earth and universe. God says let there be light and there was light. There is no mention of God using building materials or anything physical, He only used words and emotions. These words and emotions created our world, our universe. We have a challenge because we don’t accept that our words also have power and can and will create circumstances and events in our lives.

Words of kindness builds and criticism does not build anything. Criticism breaks down and causes dis-ease or disease called ‘self-hate and hate of others’. Your intention always comes out with the words you choose to use, as words have emotion that results to an energy which could be positive or negative energy. That is why mantras and affirmations are so powerful spiritual tools.

Self-hate will lead to hating others. Everything begins within us as individuals. This is a little difficult to understand, however there have been so many spiritual teachers who have come to this physical place, we call earth to teach us about self-love and acceptance and unconditional love. We use words to communicate our emotions and feelings to others. All words are like building blocks and the emotions are the cement that binds them together. If we think about this in this way it makes sense. Emotions never lie even when someone is lying or trying to deceive others, their real intentions will show in their emotions and in their body language or their energy.

They say that words have power to draw us together or tear us apart. Yet we fail to understand the power of our words. The language of love begins in silence and is born in a gentle smile and a soft word of comfort and acceptance. We all do need this like the way we need the air we breathe and the water we drink. Let’s learn to be less critical of each other and more comforting, accepting and encouraging.

Let’s allow ourselves and others a chance to experience comfort and acceptance. If this is practiced in our homes, our workplaces, in our schools or places of learning, in our communities, in our countries and it will spread through the entire world. We as a world have expanded or progressed in our technology so much yet in love and acceptance we are failing.

We are currently living in a world of separatism, we move around with headsets on our heads, blocking everyone and everything out. We are afraid to connect. We are only concerned about ourselves. Nobody smiles and greets the other. We are all holding cell phones and iPod even in our homes, parenting has changed. Parents feed their children high technology instead a warm conversation. I am not against technology innovation; however I am all for the spiritual expansion and innovation of the human spirit. Our words and emotions are the way we communicate, and we should use these words and emotions to give and accept love and encourage each other.

Living your life fearlessly

Living your life fearlessly

Life requires us to be fearless, to have some degree of confidence that all will be well in our lives. That all the uncertainty that we are confronted with daily will not consume us and fill us with fear and anxiety. We associate fear with death, since death is the deep, dark unknown in character. We basically fear the unknown. The unknown is pure infinite possibilities or potential. However we see it negatively; resulting to fear and distrust in the process of life.

Living life is like walking with a blindfold rapped around your eyes. Since we move around not sure what is going to happen next in our lives we live on faith and trust that all will be well. Another word for faith is trust. We trust the processes of life to take us through the fearful unknown parts of life. At times on our life journey, we are confronted with major issues, example sickness, death, hurt, loss, and disappointment as well as failure. We may be taken aback and experience some disillusionment in life; however, we have a choice to pull through and find our inner strength. In most cases we need external assistance and support from friends, family, or a life coach.

I recently learnt of a blood deficiency that my daughter has. It sounded like a major life-threatening deficiency at that time. I was terrified and in shock. I believe unshakably that our bodies are created perfectly to function and heal itself. This belief has made my outlook in life more of confidence and secure. Health issues are primary based on a person lifestyle and habits. However, health is also based largely on our perceptions around our bodies.

I found myself shaken and taken aback with the realization that our bodies have been created with little or big deficiencies. In these deficiencies there lie our opportunities and abilities to grow and expand. Meaning that those very weaknesses or barriers we have will lead us to grow and expand our faith and confidence in life. That all is well and that all will be okay.

It is said that we need to be content and rested and focused on what is in the now. Determining, deciding, and trusting that all is well that life supports us one hundred percent. Like a little baby trusting her mother to take care of her. Somehow that trusting and positive outlook on life has positive energy which creates all the good that we hope and desire. Life does not have the capacity to drop us or forget or forsake us. Life reaches out her warm, soft comforting hands to embrace us at each sunrise and puts us to rest when we close our eyes to reach the world of sleep.

I believe that there is nothing to fear in this world, perceptions are everything. Living a fearless life is to trust and have confidence in the perfect order of the universe. The perfect order of life is dependent largely on you as you create your life unconsciously and consciously. Feeling safe and provided for takes away the feeling fear and doubting life.

Imagine a simple rose tree. She is created beautifully and blooms in summer and then experience temporally death in the winter. Her cycle in life does not dampen her vigour or beauty. We should be the same. Our view of life should always be optimistic waiting expectantly for the next bloom.

Death, we associate with pain, loss, and mourning, allows us to experience a new blooming period of a new existence. This is the flow of life; it is rested in confidence, trust, or faith. Life has a flow of certainty and a flow of uncertainty, and we need to keep in step of the flow. We cannot allow our fears or distrust in the flow of life to draw us to an unstable state of fear. Living a fearless life is determined by your state of mind, your state of being or your state of consciousness.
